Transylvania cote of arms
Gyergyócsomafalva (Ciumani) is in the Eastern half of Transylvania (Erdély in Hungarian) in Hargita County. Traditionally a province of the Hungarian crown, was given to Romania as war booty after WWI. For location see map inside green line. (To the left "Magyarország" -i.e. Hungary; adjoining Valachia and Moldova: the "old" Romania. In the SE corner the Black Sea.) Transylvania has since been immigrated by many from "old" Romania, but still has an ethnic Hungarian population of some two million.

Gyergyócsomafalva, is about 30 km East of the major Hungarian character city of Marosvásárhely (Tirgu Mures). See the red star in the middle of vicinity map
