- Spring 1803: family moves to Olaszliszka. Lajos baptized in Lutheran
church.
- March 1808: family moves to Sátoraljaujhely
- Sept 1816-1819 Studies law and German in Eperjes
- 1821-1824 Legal intern at Pest; passes bar examination
- 1825 Moves his office to Sátoraljaujhely; authors a drama "András és Béla". Performances at Sopron and Pozsony
- 1832-1836 Delegate member . of the National Diet in Pozsony, representing the nobles of Zemplén County. Editor of Parliamantary Bulletin.
- Spring of 1836 moves to Pest, followed by family. Edits the "Jurisdictional Report".
- May 4 1837 Arrested and jailed in Fort Buda. Sentenced to four years in prison (May 2 1839). Released May 13 1840.
- January 9 1841 Weds Terézia Meszlényi in the "Belváros" church in Pest.
- July 15 1846 Inaugurates the first Hungarian rail line: Pest to Vác
- October 17 1847 Elected to represent Pest County in the National diet.
- March 3 1948 Presents noted plan to achieve Hungarian self-rule
- April 17 1848 Appointed Minister of Finance in the first responsible Hungarian cabinet under Prime Minister Lajos Batthyány.
- July 11 1848 Delivers famous address calling on the diet to authorize major funding and staffing for the armed forces (Honve´d).
- September 15 1848 Chairman of the newly formed National Defense Commission (Honvédelmi Bizottmá:ny)
- December 31, 1848Along with the cabinet and the diet, moves from Pest to Debrecen.
- February 26-27 1849 Visits the Kápolna battlefield; offers his noted prayer.
- April 14 1849 Diet approves his dethronement resolution, unseating the Habsburgs.
- June 5 1849 Returns to liberated Pest with government
- August 11 1849 Moves to Arad; resigns presidency in favor of Gen. Görgey
- August 17 1849 Under the alia "James Brunswill" crosses Danube into Turkey at Orsova.
- August 22 1849 Arrives in Vidin (today's Bulgaria) where he pens his noted "Letter from Vidin" to British foreign secretary Lord Palmerston seeking help for his exile companions.
- April 12 1850 Arrives in Turkey's Kütahya (Asia Minor), designated domicile in exile by the Turkish government.
- September 10 1851 Accompanied by family and staff, boards the US Steam frigate "Mississippi" in Smyrna (today's Izmir)
- October 23 1851 Arrives in Southampton, England on board the mail steamer "Madrid".
- December 5 1851 Lands in Staten Island NY (USA) on board the liner "Humboldt".
- December 30 1851 Arrives in Washington DC.
- July 14 1852 After a major American tour, boards the liner "Africa" for England as "Adam Smith" (and wife "Lady Smith").
- May 5 1859 Meets with emperor Napoleon III in Paris. Elected chairman of "Hungarian National Directorate" (Magyar Nemzeti Igazgatóság)
- 1861 Moves to Milano, thence to Turin (Torino) Italy
- May 1862 Formulates plans for a "Danubian Federation" (Dunai Államszövetség)
- March 20 1894 Dies at his Torino Address: Villa die Mille 22.
